Full-day hire for a cultural route

The tiring part of seeing Istanbul in a day is not the walking, it is the moving between places. Getting from the historic peninsula to the Bosphorus by public transport means half an hour and two changes every time; by the end of the day you remember the travelling more than the sights.

This service removes those transitions. The car and driver stay with you all day, wait at every stop and take you straight to the next one. You decide where and when; there is no set tour programme to fit into.

In short

This service in numbers

  • Cultural route hire is not a tour package but an hourly or daily car and driver service, with the programme set by the customer.

  • Roadviptransfer does not provide guiding; guiding in Turkey requires a separate licence, and commentary in museums and archaeological sites is delivered by licensed guides.

  • Museum and site entrance fees are not included in the hire amount and are paid on site by the visitor.

  • Vehicle access is restricted in the core of the historic peninsula; the car waits at the nearest legal point and the day resumes from there after the walk.

How a day inside the city is built

A day inside the city has two clusters: the historic peninsula and the Bosphorus shore. Both can be squeezed into one day, but that means one crossing landing in the evening traffic; splitting them across two days is more comfortable.

Where the sights are walked, the car waits and you do not have to keep track of it. The Road Companion pieces are written for exactly these waiting and travelling gaps: they tell you what the bridge you are crossing and the shore you are seeing actually are, while you are passing them.

A day that leaves the city

The destinations you can reach and return from in one day are limited, and the limit is set by hours on the road rather than kilometres. Bursa, Sapanca, Şile, Ağva and İznik are within it: out and back stays under five hours in total, leaving time to actually be there.

Destinations such as Cappadocia and Pamukkale are not within it. One way takes roughly seven to eight hours, which makes a day programme nothing but travelling. Road transfers to those places can be planned separately, but we do not sell them as a day trip.

Istanbul Airport → Sultanahmet48 km

Route taken
The route drops south from the North Marmara Motorway and joins the shore road via the Hasdal-Okmeydanı link; at peak hours the driver takes the inner route past the city walls at Edirnekapı.
What happens on arrival
Vehicle access is restricted in the core of Sultanahmet and many hotels cannot be reached by car. The driver stops at the nearest legal drop-off point and carries your luggage to the door.
Public transport alternative
By public transport the M11 metro runs to Gayrettepe, then requires changes to the M2 and the T1 tram: two changes and roughly 90 minutes. Finding space on the tram with large suitcases at peak times is difficult.

Istanbul Airport → Bursa155 km

Route taken
South on the North Marmara Motorway and across the Gulf of İzmit on the Osmangazi Bridge. That bridge takes roughly an hour off the journey compared with driving around the gulf, and its toll is included in the price.

Public transport alternative
A sea bus from Yenikapı to Mudanya and then the road into Bursa. It is cheaper, but it means two transfers and a fixed timetable, tying a day trip to the ferry's schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide a guide?

No. Guiding in Turkey requires its own licence, and we do not present an authorisation we do not hold as a service. We supply the car and driver; if you want to work with a licensed guide, you bring that person into the day and our vehicle carries them too.

Are museum entrance fees included?

No, entrance fees are not included in the hire amount and are paid on site. Our amount covers the car, the driver, fuel, parking and tolls.

Do I have to give the programme in advance?

No. A rough list is enough and you can change the order during the day. We only need to know in advance if you are leaving the city, because the kilometre allowance and the return time are planned around that.
